For those of you who don’t know, ⌈Luna Online⌋ is a free-to-play MMORPG. The reason why I love it is because it has cute, anime-style graphics. It actually looks a lot like the MMORPG that Kona-chan, Kagamin, Tsukasa and Nanako-sensei played in ⌈Lucky Star: OVA⌋. Too bad ⌈Luna Online⌋ doesn’t have the promotional Pizza-La Shield. :D

What makes ⌈Luna Online⌋ unique is the matchmaking system and the non-combat activities, such as farming and fishing. The playerbase and the community support outside of the game is excellent, since it has its own forum and is on both Facebook and Twitter.

However, ⌈Luna Online⌋ doesn’t have widescreen support and the gameplay outside of the social networking features is quite dated. So it’s more for casual gamers than WoW addicts.

My feet were really sore from all the walking and from waiting in line for 2 to 3 hours to get my badge. It was non-stop for the entire long weekend. Stalking cosplayers, harassing vendors in the Exhibit Hall, jumping around during the HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR and Dazzle Vision concert — it was awesome.

I was very happy to be able to pick up a few items at decent prices: a Tsukasa Hiiragi 1/4 scale figure for $137, a Rin Natsume oppai mousepad for $35, a CLANNAD microfiber towel for $15 and a bunch of manga (i.e., Lucky Star, Rosario + Vampire 2nd Season, Sayonara Zetsubo-Sensei and Yotsuba&!) at 10% to 20% off. I usually buy a lot more items when I go to anime conventions, but unfortunately, the prices weren’t that great this year.

EP8⌋ today on Crunchyroll. I was about to drop ⌈Chu-Bra!!⌋ because EP1 to EP7 haven’t been that good. The storyline is weak and even though it’s a comedy, I didn’t find it that funny. To be honest, the only thing that kept me watching was the fan service. :P

Luckily, that changed with EP8. There were several scenes that I thought was pretty funny, especially the scene where Hiroki finds out that his brother swapped his swimsuit. I won’t say too much just in case it’ll spoil it for everyone.

If you haven’t watched ⌈Chu-Bra!!⌋, maybe give it a try. It’s free on Crunchyroll, so you have nothing to lose. If you find it boring, skip to EP8 and give that episode a try.

BTW, some scenes are pretty ecchi, so it’s NSFW.

I’m pretty excited about this year because Noizi Ito, the artist for ⌈Haruhi Suzumiya no Yutsu⌋ and ⌈Shakugan no Shana⌋, is a Guest of Honor. Noizi also worked on several visual novels for UNiSONSHIFT. If you google her work, you’ll see that her work is super cute.

This year will be my 2nd year going to Sakura-Con. Last year was awesome because they had Hangry & Angry performing. However, this year is pretty good too; they have HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR and Dazzle Vision performing.

I read that ToysLogic, one of my favorite retailers, is setting up a booth in the Exhibit Hall again. I guess it’s time to save up. ;)

Believe it or not, I’ve been playing ⌈Tekken: Dark Resurrection⌋ on my PSP for a few years now and that’s the only fighting game that I’ve played, even though there were so many good fighting games released, like ⌈Dissidia: Final Fantasy⌋.

Overall, I’m pretty impressed with this game. It’s mainly 2D, so it’s not as advanced as 3D fighting games. Also, there’s not much of a storyline, so if you haven’t watched ⌈Fate/stay night⌋, you’ll be lost.

However, this game does have its own features. What impressed me the most is the Japanese audio/English subtitles setup instead of the cheesy English dub setup. Also, gameplay is smooth and responsive, so it’s very fun trying to nail those combos during a fight or a mission.

BTW, this game is download only, so you have to buy it on PSN.

If you’re a ⌈K-On!⌋ fan and you’ve missed out on the initial reservations for Good Smile and Max Factory’s ⌈K-On!⌋ Nendoroids and figmas, then you got lucky because there’s going to be a 2nd shipment. I’m pretty happy because I thought I was out of luck when all of the allocations for the 1st shipment were gone.

Yui is my favorite character, but I chose Azu-nyan over her because IMO, out of the 5 figures, Azu-nyan is the cutest. Mio, Ricchan and Mugi are cute too. Maybe Yui’s hair looks kinda odd, so I don’t like it as much.

BTW, this is my first time shopping at AmiAmi. I wonder if they’re any good?

I woke up this morning and I found a package from Amazon waiting for me at the door. I ordered ⌈Lucky Star Vol. 3⌋ and ⌈Hidamari Sketch Vol. 4⌋ a few days ago. I usually buy my manga online because the local anime stores never seem to carry the complete selection of my favorite manga.

Actually, I was about to drop ⌈Lucky Star⌋ after reading Vol. 1 and 2 because it’s not as funny as I expected. The anime was much better. I’m not sure whether it’s because of the translation or whether the manga just wasn’t as good as the anime even in the original Japanese language. However, ⌈Lucky Star⌋ is one of my favorite anime, so I ordered Vol. 3 anyways.

BTW, if you haven’t read ⌈Hidamari Sketch⌋, I highly recommend it. It’s really cute and funny. It’s similar to ⌈Lucky Star⌋ because ⌈Hidamari Sketch⌋ is also a 4-koma manga about 4 schoolgirls, but I find ⌈Hidamari Sketch⌋ to be less random than ⌈Lucky Star⌋. Or maybe I’m just biased because I love Yunocchi.

Unfortunately, this year’s convention is held at UBC. IMO, it’s a huge downgrade from last year. I guess renting the Vancouver Convention Center is too expensive, especially since AE is only a 5000-person event. I’m expecting this year to feel like a large student club.

They haven’t announced any Japanese musical guests yet, so hopefully, they’ll have some good bands lined up. I’m crossing my fingers and hoping that they’ll go for a Hello! Project or AKB48-style group; however, I know that isn’t going to happen. :(

My blog was a general blog, so I figure it would be best to focus on a particular topic; I decided to go with bargain hunting. Like the name implies, OtakuDeals.com is a bargain hunting website for otaku(s). On a regular basis, I (with the help of a few buddies) will search the Internet and post deals on anime, manga, figures, gravure idols, J-pop music, gadgets and video games.

BTW, this website is still a work-in-progress. I still need a logo and more pictures of my mascot. All of these are being worked on right now. However, I don’t have an ETA.
